BILLINGS — The Missoula Mavericks completed a three-game series sweep of the Billings Royals Thursday, winning both games of an American Legion Baseball doubleheader at Pirtz Field.
The Mavs, who won 7-4 on Wednesday, picked up an 8-3 win in Game 1 on Thursday. Dane Fraser and Drew Stensrud each went 3-for-4 at the plate, with Fraser scoring twice and Stensrud driving in two runs. Stewart Long had three RBI. Dylan Chalmers pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out five.
Fraser and Stensrud stayed hot in the nightcap, as the Mavs grabbed a 9-4 win. Fraser was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Stensrud was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Three pitchers combined to limit the Royals to four runs on eight hits.
Dann Blanchard was 2-for-4 in each game to lead Billings.
