GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls Voyagers defeated the Grand Junction Rockies 6-4 at Centene Stadium on Thursday to win the Pioneer League Championship in two games. It’s the team’s first league title in seven years and the 10th all-time in the history of the franchise.

The Voyagers started out hot with clutch hits by Travis Moniot (2-for-4, two RBI), and Romy Gonzalez (3-for-3, one RBI) that drove runs across the board in the first few innings. Grand Junction narrowed the margin to 5-4 in the sixth inning, but an RBI single from Amado Nunez in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in an insurance run for Great Falls.

The Voyagers’ pitchers struck out 13 Rockies batters, led by Devon Perez with seven Ks. Missoula native Codi Heuer picked up the win.
