SAN JOSE, Calif. – Missoula Mt. Sentinel couldn’t finish a comeback on Tuesday evening, losing 8-6, and now the boys from Missoula fall into the loser’s bracket at the Junior Baseball West Regional Tournament.

Mt. Sentinel’s 12-14-year-old squad fell behind 5-0 after two innings against the Southern California champs. The guys from Manhattan Beach had extended the lead to 8-2 going to the bottom of the fifth.

Montana’s state champs responded with three runs in the fifth and scored another in the bottom of the seventh to close within 8-6. But with runners on first and second, Southern California ended the game with a strikeout.

Mt. Sentinel will now play a loser-out game at 3:30 p.m. (MT) Wednesday afternoon.

Missoula started the tournament with a 12-3 blowout win over the hosts from San Jose on Sunday evening, which moved them into the winner’s bracket showdown with Southern California.
