HAMILTON – Two dramatic comebacks left two teams moving on to the Class A American Legion Baseball state tournament. The Glacier Twins claimed a Western District title on Sunday, and the Bitterroot Red Sox also move on with a second-place finish.

In the first game of the day on the Red Sox home field, the guys from Hamilton trailed the rival Bitterroot Bucs 7-3 in the sixth inning. But the Red Sox answered with five runs to take the lead and held on for the win in the seventh, 8-7.

That win moved the Red Sox into the championship against top-seed Glacier, and the Twins took down Bitterroot for the second time in two days, although this time in a much different way than Saturday’s 4-0 shutout.

The Red Sox took a 7-3 lead after three innings, but the Twins came back to tie it 8-8 after four. Then Glacier scored seven runs over the last two innings to pull away for a 15-8 victory.

The Twins and Red Sox will both now travel to Miles City for the state tournament, beginning on Wednesday.
