MISSOULA — In a double-header Monday night in Missoula, the Garden City Little League All-Star softball team clinched the state tournament championship beating the BABS All-Star Team of Billings 7 – 3 in game one and 8 – 1 in the final.

12-year-old Isalei Bates led the team on the mound with 9 strike-outs and allowing only one hit in the championship game. Makenna Thorson (2nd) led a third inning rally in the first game, driving in one run with a triple that bounced to the fence which was followed by a series of hits from Bates (pitcher), Parker Robinson (right field), Gianna Janacaro (catcher) and a line-drive double from Quinn Hodge (1st). Strong hitting from Missoula was led by short stop Irene Griswold who went 3 for 5 at the plate over both games.

The Missoula All-Star team will now head to San Bernardino, California to represent the state of Montana in the Little League World Series West Regionals. Their first game is scheduled for 5PM MDT on Saturday July 20, 2019 against Arizona. More information is available here.
