GREAT FALLS — The Spring Fling Hoop Thing celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday in Great Falls. The annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament is a fundraiser for local nonprofit Alliance for Youth.

With 300 teams and 41 courts, this year’s tournament was the second-largest in event history after last year’s. Executive Director Kristy Stroop estimated nearly 4,000 people attended.

“Honestly it’s been kind of heart-warming. We’ve had some moments to step back and look at it, and we’re just incredibly grateful that we have a sustainable event in Great Falls,” Stroop said. “There’s not a lot of people that can say they’ve done the same fundraiser for 25 years.”

The event’s growth continues to bring in new faces, like Browning’s Weslin Edwards.

“We just wanted to have fun and play, and maybe win it,” Edwards said.
