HELENA — Helena found itself trailing 4-2 after two periods of its decisive first-round game against the Missoula Jr. Bruins, but the Bighorns had a flurry of goals in the final period. Helena outscored Missoula 4-1 in the third period to win 6-5 and advance to the second round of the Fraser Cup Playoffs.

Just over two minutes into the third period, Ian Zaleski scored to pull the Bighorns within 4-3. Three minutes after Zaleski’s goal, Helena lit up the lamp again. Kaden Lindberg broke free and beat the goalie one-on-one to tie things up, 4-4.

Misha Akatnov quickly answered for the Bruins, breaking free and netting his second goal of the evening. But Darren Donovan tied it back up with just over 11 minutes to play.

Helena’s Luc Cross scored the game-winning goal with 5:22 to play.
