HAVRE — The Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 will host a free soccer shoot for youth up to age 14 on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the soccer fields next to Havre High School. The Elks are the only lodge in Montana to hold the event.

“Our lodge is proud to host this event again this year. We know soccer is a growing sport in our region and our partner in this event, the Havre Youth Soccer Association, has close to 600 children participating in soccer this season,” said event co-chairman Kyle Leeds. “The Havre Elks Lodge greatly appreciates the assistance of the Havre Youth Soccer Association in making this great community event a success.”

Youth athletes up to age 14 from communities in Big Sandy, Box Elder, Chinook, Gildford, Harlem, Hays-Lodgepole, Havre, Hingham, Kremlin, Rocky Boy, Rudyard and Turner are eligible to compete in the event, which will consist of goal shooting and a target shooting. Athletes will be divided into groups based on their age.

Numerous lodges across Montana host basketball Hoop Shoots, but Leeds and the Havre Elks Lodge hope September’s soccer event will catch on across Montana.

“We take pride in being able to offer a fun, free and safe recreational event for all area youth to participate in,” Leeds said. “It should be a great last summer night and we look forward to seeing all area youth at this fantastic family friendly event, starting with registration at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11th.”
