DALLAS — Ethan Oddy of Belgrade competed in the Junior Gold Championships bowling tournament last week in Dallas. The event brings the best young bowlers in the nation to battle it out for a chance to compete in the televised national finals.
Oddy bowled a 134 average during the tournament, almost 20 below his normal mark. He finished 206 out of 284 bowlers in the Under-12 Division. Had he bowled his average, Oddy would have placed in the low 100s.
But it was still a great experience. Oddy went to a Texas Rangers game and even met his favorite bowler, Sean Rash. Although he was disappointed in his finish, Oddy hopes to qualify for nationals again next year to get some redemption.
