HELENA — The offense ran cold in the semifinals of the Keith Sell Tournament, but Great Falls struck at the right time. The Chargers used their first hit of the evening to plate two runs, which would be just enough to hold off the Helena Senators on Saturday evening at Kindrick Legion Field, 2-0.
Kael Richards roped a 3-2 fastball over the left fielder’s head to score two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The two baserunners had reached after walks, giving Richards the Chargers’ first hit of the night. Chargers pitcher Braden Hirst was lights out, pitching a complete game shutout, striking out three, allowing five hits and walking one.
Great Falls will move on to the championship game of the Keith Sell Tournament on Sunday afternoon, where they will face Lethbridge. Helena will face Glacier for third place.
