BELGRADE – Down nine runs, the Belgrade Bandits came back late in the game to defeat the Billings Halos, 15-14, at Edward S. Medina Field on Friday night.
The Halos exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to build a 14-5 lead, but the Bandits responded quickly. Justin Riekenberg got the rally started with an RBI single sending Colton Charnholm home. From there, they played small ball, scoring six more runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to two.
Jake Klonsinski was deadly at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Then the Bandits’ defense buckled down, keeping the Halos scoreless through the end of the game while scoring three more runs in the final two frames to win the game.
Belgrade is back in action Saturday taking on the Cody Cubs of Wyoming at 7:30 p.m.
