Billings Royals complete sweep, run win streak to 16

BILLINGS – The Billings Royals won two more games Sunday, sweeping the Butte Miners 4-3 and 7-1 to run the Royals’ win streak to 16 straight games.

Jarret Leinwand was the star of the 4-3 win in Game 1. The Royals outfielder was 3-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Cade Torgerson, meanwhile, pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits while striking out seven.

Leinwand added three more RBI in Game 2, while Sam Evenson reached base all three times to bring his daily line to 4-5, plus a walk. Connor Polkowske and Cole Miller added two hits and two runs each in the 7-1 victory. Brooks Zimmer threw 4.2 innings, allowing just two singles while striking out four.

The Royals are now 19-1 on the season. They hit the road Wednesday for a conference game with Missoula. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
