MISSOULA – The Vauxhall Jets and Bozeman Bucks both stormed through their first four games at the Missoula Mavericks Memorial Tournament with perfect 4-0 records. But the Jets proved they deserved the title in the championship game.

Liam Vulcano’s two-run double in the third inning extended Vauxhall’s lead to 6-0 over Bozeman. And the Jets turned three double plays over the final four innings to end any attempt of a Bozeman comeback. Adam Macko only gave up two hits over six innings on the mound, and Joshua Tardif finished off the seventh for the win.

The hosting Missoula Mavericks ended a disappointing week on a positive note right before the title tilt. Braden Jacobson and Brendon Hill each drove in a pair of runs with one swing as the Mavs took down the Northern Lakes Mountaineers from Idaho, 5-1. Pitcher’s Kaden Heidrick and Thomas Martin combined to only give up six hits.
