Billings Royals win two more in Wyoming

GILLETTE, Wyo. – The Billings Royals moved their season record to 12-1 with two more wins Saturday in Gillette, Wyoming.

Atticus Bryan fired six shutout innings with seven strikeouts to help the Royals get part Spearfish, S.D. 4-0 in their first game of the day. Bryan gave up just four singles, and Chandler Callicott preserved the shutout in the seventh. Brooks Zimmer hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the third inning to provide Bryan with some insurance.

The bats came alive in the Royals’ second game of the day, beating the Gillette Roughriders 9-2 in another seven-inning contest. Jayden Kay reached base in three out of four at-bats and drove in three runs, while Jarret Leinwand and Dawson Smith each drove in two. Tyler Frieders pitched six innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out six.

The Royals stay on the road Sunday with a double-header in Helena against the Senators. Game times are slated for 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
