BUTTE — It wasn’t the home opener the Butte Miners were hoping for.
The Miners began their second season of play at 3 Legends Stadium with 3-1 and 13-7 losses to the Kalispell Lakers on Sunday afternoon.
The first game featured a defensive duel, with the two teams combining for a total of two runs through the first five innings. A home run from Kalispell’s Randy Stultz helped spark a two-run, tie-breaking top of the sixth inning.
A Stultz home run kicked off the second game, an offensive display from both teams that resulted in a 13-7 Lakers win.
