Billings Royals sweep Butte Miners

BILLINGS – The Billings Royals scored 28 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Butte Saturday afternoon at Pirtz Field.

The Royals rallied from a 9-4 deficit in Game 1 to claim an 18-16 win behind four RBI from Brooks Zimmer and nine total RBI from the bottom four players in the lineup. Zimmer went 3-for-3 with a home run and a triple, falling a double short of the cycle. Six players drove in at least two runs.

Justin Summers was 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI for the Miners.

Zimmer starred on the mound in Game 2. He threw six innings, giving up just one earned run on three hits while striking out 11 batters in a 10-2 Royals win. Jarret Leinwand finished 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two doubles and four RBI.

Billings plays a doubleheader at Bozeman Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.
