LAS VEGAS – The hype is at a fever pitch for Sean O’Malley after the Helena native added to his growing legend with a unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-28) over Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 in Las Vegas.

O’Malley improved his professional record to 10-0, despite suffering an apparent leg injury in the middle of the third round. The 23-year-old bantamweight could barely put weight on his right leg after connecting with a head kick, but managed to ride out the rest of the fight on the ground.

At one point the official asked if O’Malley was ok and he replied, “I don’t tap.”

Following the fight, O’Malley laid on the mat clearly in pain. After the ring announcer read the decision, O’Malley was interviewed in-ring back flat on the canvas.

“I can’t feel it, it went numb and I felt nothing,” O’Malley said in the post-fight interview. “Nothing I can’t fix with a little medicine at my after party.”

Earlier this week, O’Malley said a win at UFC would make him a superstar. With an exciting style, an entertaining personality and two convincing wins over quality opponents to start his UFC stint, it’s becoming clearer the Helena kid is destined for great things.

As he was being carted out of the ring on a stretcher, he yelled out some parting words to the fans.

“Welcome to the Sugar Show!”
