ANAHEIM, Calif. – Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) and Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) tied for the Round 1 win on the opening night of the 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast, Anaheim Invitational at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Dirteater rode Renewed Spirit (Rocking K-J Bucking Bulls), while Lawrence rode to the eight aboard Red Sails In The Sunset (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls). The pair recorded identical 87.5-point scores and each took home 80 world points and $3,165.
Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil), who went 4-for-4 at last weekend’s Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, delivered an 86.5-point ride aboard Incredibull (D&H Cattle Company) Friday night at the Honda Center to take third place in the round. The Brazilian Cowboy earned 50 points toward the world standings along with a $2,000 paycheck.
In a three-way tie, Brady Oleson (Blackfoot, Idaho), Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) and Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil) recorded 86-point rides to finish in fourth place. Oleson started out the evening on Make-N-Magic (Diamond G. Rodeos, Inc.) followed by Nance on Northern Moxie (Diamond G. Rodeos, Inc.). Montanha Jr. was aboard Spotted Panther (West Coast Bucking Bulls). For their efforts, each rider earned 28.33 world points and paychecks of $916.67.
The best bull riders in the world will return to the Honda Center on Saturday, February 3 for Round 2 of the Anaheim Invitational.
