Jerry Kramer, a Green Bay Packers legend and Jordan native, has been voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Voters cast their ballots on Saturday.
Kramer was born in Jordan on Jan. 23, 1936 but moved to Idaho when he was 5 years old. He played at the University of Idaho, where his No. 64 is retired.
The Packers drafted Kramer in 1958 to begin his all-pro NFL career. The offensive lineman helped Green Bay to Super Bowl wins in 1967 and ’68. Kramer is known for his famous block that allowed quarterback Bart Starr to score the game-winning touchdown that helped Green Bay defeat Dallas, 21-17, in the 1967 “Ice Bowl.”
Kramer, a five-time all-pro selection, retired from football in 1968.
Kramer, 82, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside Randy Moss, Brian Urlacher, Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins, Terrell Owens, Robert Brazile and Bobby Beathard. The 2018 Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Canton, Ohio.
