HELENA — The Helena Brewers will have several familiar faces in the dugout for the 2018 season as Nestor Corredor, along with most of his staff, will return for their third season in the Pioneer League, the Milwaukee Brewers announced on Wednesday.

“Nestor and his staff will work well with the group of young players that will be playing in Helena this summer,” said Milwaukee Farm Director Tom Flanagan “The field staff has experience in Helena, and they should be able to guide the players as they make the transition to the Pioneer League and professional baseball.”

Corredor, 34, will return as the manager of the Helena Brewers for a third season. The native Venezuelan was in charge of the Brewers in 2016 and 2017, guiding Helena to a 56-91 record. This will be his eighth season as a manager in the Brewers system after leading the Dominican Summer League Brewers from 2010 to 2012 and managing the Arizona League Brewers from 2013 to 2016. Corredor previously played for the Helena Brewers, joining the team as a catcher in 2004 and returning to the Capital City as a pitcher in 2008.

“As a former player and an experienced manager, we’re excited to have Nestor back at the helm for another season,” said Helena Brewers President/General Manager Paul Fetz. “The way he can relate to our young players and help them adjust to a city he’s familiar with is invaluable.”

Rolando Valles, 38, comes back for his second consecutive season and fourth overall as the Brewers pitching coach. During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Valles worked as the pitching coach on Tony Diggs staff in Helena before spending a year in the Arizona Summer League. He joined the Brewers organization in 2008, working as a Latin liaison.

Liu Rodríguez, 41, will serve as the Brewers hitting coach for a third consecutive season. Rodriguez was in charge of Helena’s bats as the team hit 74 home runs in 2017, their highest home run total as a team since 2008. A middle infielder for 19 seasons, Rodríguez joined the Brewers organization as a coach for the AZL Brewers in 2014. He served as a coach for Class A Wisconsin in 2015 before coming to Helena for the 2016 season.

On the training staff, Matt Deal, 25, returns to Helena for a second season as the teams’ athletic trainer. A graduate of Marquette, Deal is entering his fifth season as a part of the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Helena opens their 2018 season on the road on June 15 at Great Falls before celebrating Opening Day at Kindrick Legion Field on June 16 at 7:05 P.M.
