Carroll College alum Josh James signs futures contract with Buffalo Bills

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Josh James, the former Carroll College offensive lineman who finished the 2017 NFL season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, has signed a futures contract to remain with the team. The Bills announced James’ signing alongside eight other practice-squad players.

James, a 6-foot-5, 314-pound tackle, has also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs since graduating from Carroll in 2016. The Coeur d’Alene native redshirted in 2011 before becoming a four-year starter for the Saints.

James finished his career earning all-Frontier Conference honors his junior and senior seasons and an all-American nod his senior year.

The Bills this year qualified for the playoffs for the first time in 18 seasons. They lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 10-3 in the first round, finishing the season with a 9-8 overall record.

James’ futures contract guarantees him a spot on the Bills’ roster for the upcoming offseason. The NFL’s new league year begins on March 14 and offseason workouts begin April 16.
