CORVALLIS, Ore. — Wayne Tinkle’s still got it.

The former Montana Grizzly player and coach showcased his Oregon State squad on Tuesday evening during the Beavers’ annual Orange-Black scrimmage, but perhaps the greatest moment of the evening came when Tinkle himself took the court.

Once a three-time all-Big Sky Conference selection with the Grizzlies, Tinkle was placed at half-court at Gill Coliseum to attempt a reverse half-court shot for a chance to secure one Oregon State student with free books during the winter semester. Tinkle calmly tossed the ball behind his head, turning just in time to see it sink through the hoop.

Katherine Spencer was the lucky winner of the winter term’s free books.

Tuesday’s scrimmage ended with a 57-39 victory from the black team, while two players scored 15 points each — Stephen Thompson Jr. and Tinkle’s son, Tres.

Oregon State opens its season this Saturday against Montana Tech.
