Ben Sandy resigns as cross country coach at Dawson Community College

Posted

GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College cross country coach Ben Sandy resigned on Wednesday to pursue other opportunities, the school announced in a release.

Sandy helped resurrect a program that had been non-existent for several decades. Last season the Bucs showcased five male athletes and one female who competed in 12 events throughout Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota during the fall and the spring.

There are currently nine men and three women signed to compete this year. The Bucs’ first meet will be September 13 in Billings at the NAIA Regional Preview Meet hosted by Rocky Mountain College.

“Ben had a tough job, but he worked really hard to get the program up and running,” said DCC Athletic Director Joe Peterson. “From ordering equipment to beating the bushes on the recruiting trail, putting together a schedule and providing excellent training and instruction to the student-athletes, Ben re-established the defunct program.”

Dawson will begin the search for Sandy’s replacement immediately.
