LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Corban University women’s basketball team has been named the “Under Armour Team of the Week” for Jan. 28-Feb. 3, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

Corban is coached by former Helena Capital High School girls basketball coach Bill Pilgeram, who took over the Warriors’ program this past offseason. Pilgeram starred on the high school courts at Plains High School before a stellar career at Carroll College, where he scored a program-record 2,515 career points from 1988-1992.

Corban took the short trip north on I-5 and came away with two road wins and sits in second place in the CCC standings after the weekend.

On Friday night, the No. 22-ranked Warriors needed a dominant fourth quarter to pull away from a feisty Multnomah team. Likely player of the year candidate Jordan Woodvine led the team with 19 points with teammate Treasure Farmer adding 18 points. As a team, Corban shot 48.9 percent from the floor while holding the Lions to 38.3 percent in the 72-60 win.

Saturday night proved to be a nail-biter down the stretch as Corban withheld a furious run by the Knights of Warner Pacific to take the 75-72 victory. Woodvine again led the Warriors with 22 points, six boards, five assists and two blocked shots. Farmer added 17 points in the win.

Corban (18-7, 12-3 CCC) will host key conference games against No. 24 Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech on Feb. 8-9.
