GLENDIVE – Austin Ngalia from Granbury North Central Texas Academy is the latest addition to the 2018 DCC men’s basketball recruiting class.

The 6’8 forward, originally from Nigeria, led his high school in Texas to a 57-5 record over the past two years and back to back TAPPS Class 1A State Championships.

“I chose DCC because I feel like this is a better place for me,” said Ngalia. “After all of the offers, I got the feel like this school has what it takes to help me get to where I really want to be. And I have faith in coach Peterson and I love the system which he plays the game. I’m so thankful to God and I’m happy to be a Buccaneer.”

Last season for Granbury, Ngalia averaged 12 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game. He was a First Team All-District selection, First Team All-State and All-Tournament. Ngalia also played with the Texas Basketball Express AAU team.

“Austin adds size, length and athleticism inside for us,” said Bucs coach Joe Peterson. “He is a good defender and rim protector and a beast on the boards.   He’s perfect with the guys we already have inside and will play well with our guards. He’s also another guy with good character and a great work ethic with the potential to really blossom as a player.”

Ngalia is the ninth signee this spring for Peterson who is only returning one player and two red-shirts from last year’s team. The recruiting class includes three from Montana, four from Colorado and two international players who have gone to high school in Texas.
