GLENDIVE – Marcus Stephens from Tacoma, Washington, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the DCC Buccaneers next year.

The 6’2 guard won back to back 4A State Championships at Federal Way High School. He led his team to a 63 game winning streak which is the longest streak in Washington 4A history.

As a senior, Stephens led his team in scoring with 17 points per game and in assists with seven. He was a First-Team All-League selection.

Stephens became the winningest basketball player in school history by compiling a record of 78-6 in his three years at Federal Way while never losing a home game. Last year, Stephens played at Elite Prep Academy where they ranked third in the National Prep School Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC, and went undefeated in the 2017 Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. Stephens averaged 17 points, six assists and six rebounds per game.

“I chose Dawson because of the amazing coaching staff and position they put their players in to succeed,” Stephens said, “and in efforts to continue the winning tradition that Dawson symbolizes.”

“Marcus is just a good all-around basketball player,” Peterson said. “He can play multiple positions and knows how to get the job done and how to win. I’m really looking forward to working with him next year. I think we have signed several players like him who have a high basketball IQ and love to compete.”

The Bucs are still looking to sign one or two more players to fill out their recruiting class for the upcoming season.
