PORTLAND, Ore. – After tying for fifth place in the first event of her spring season, Montana State University Billings women’s golf senior Bailee Dexter was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week announced by the conference office on Monday.

“Bailee had a very good first tournament this spring,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “Despite not being able to practice outside, she played consistently and posted two very good rounds at the Warrior Invitational. Bailee represents everything you want in a student-athlete, and her leadership is very important to our team’s success.”

Dexter started off the Winona State Warrior Invitational with a 6-over-par 78 in Round 1 last Monday, and backed it up with a 79 for a two-round total of 157. She was the highest finisher for the ‘Jackets, and posted her third-lowest two-round score of the 2017-18 season overall.

The senior’s big effort helped the Yellowjackets finish in second place as a team among the field of nine competitors at the par-72, 5,929-yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

This is Dexter’s second career GNAC weekly honor, as she claimed the award for the week of Oct. 3-9, 2016 as a junior on the team. She is a two-time academic all-conference selection and was a second-team all-GNAC pick last year.

Dexter and the Yellowjackets are in their first round at the Cal State University Monterey Bay Otter Invitational on Monday at Poppy Hills Golf Club in Monterey, Calif.
