MSU Billings women know what’s at stake in GNAC Championship

ANCHORAGE, Alas. – The MSU Billings women know just how much is at stake Saturday night.

The Jackets knocked off top seed Northwest Nazarene in the GNAC semifinals Friday, and will face Seattle Pacific in Saturday’s title game. They’ll be focused on a Falcons team who have beaten them five straight times.

A win means an automatic berth into the NCAA West Regionals. A loss means the Jackets will have to sweat Sunday night’s selection show, and they’d rather not do that.

“You know, the best way to get into that regional is to win your league tournament,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “It’s really hard to get to the national tournament in NCAA Division 2. We have approximately 35 teams in three leagues – only one team out of 35 is going to make it. We’re just hoping we can get there.”

MSUB and Seattle Pacific tip off at 9:30 p.m. Mountain time at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Sunday’s selection show airs at 8:00 p.m. MST on ESPN3.
