BILLINGS – Singled out for her academic excellence, Montana State University Billings women’s basketball senior Alisha Breen was named a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District selection announced by the organization on Thursday.

Breen has a 3.67 grade point average while completing her degree in health and human performance, and was recently named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic all-league team for the third time in her career. “Alisha represents everything you want in a student-athlete,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “She has achieved excellence in the classroom and on the basketball court, while also being a great leader with impeccable character. Our team, university, and the Billings community have all benefitted from her presence at MSUB over the past five years.”

On the court, Breen leads the GNAC in scoring with 20.5 points per game and is second in the league in rebounding with 9.7 boards per game. She enters this week No. 12 in the NCAA Division II in scoring, and her career total of 1,783 points is No. 3 in MSUB history and No. 4 in GNAC history.

Also earning academic all-district honors from the GNAC was Seattle Pacific University senior Jordan McPhee, who holds a 3.98 GPA while studying business administration. Breen was selected among the District 8 winners, which includes members of the GNAC, California Collegiate Athletic Association, and the PacWest Conference.

The Yellowjackets (18-10, 11-7 GNAC) close the 2017-18 regular season this weekend on the road, with games at Simon Fraser University on Thursday and at Western Washington University on Saturday. This is the second straight year the ‘Jackets have had an academic all-district selection, after 2016-17 senior Tiana Hanson won the honor and went on to claim Academic All-America accolades. Breen is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America status, to be released in the coming weeks.
