BOULDER, Colo. – Sam Zook and Jorey Egeland represented the Montana State University Billings track and field team today at the Colorado Invitational hosted by the University of Colorado on Saturday.

Running the 200-meter for the first time this season, Zook set a new school record by a full second when he crossed the line 21.65 taking fourth-place overall. He was in the fastest heat as he finished third among his group of six in the 38 athlete field.

The junior also ran the 60-meter where he posted a 6.85 and finished in fifth. He won his preliminary heat to start the day while running a 6.88. Forty-two athletes competed in the dash with Zook only finishing behind runners from Air Force, Western State and two non-collegiate participants.

Egeland ran in the longest race of the day at 5,430-feet of elevation and finished the 5K in a time of 16:14.93. The time will be converted for elevation and be reflected differently on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference performance list. Egeland currently holds the second fastest time in the conference 14:51.40, set at the Douth Dakota State Invitational.

On Friday, Nels Flanagan competed during the field events portion of the Colorado Invite. The MSUB senior placed third in the weight throw with his second-best mark of the season 17.87 meters.

The rest of the Yellowjackets competed at the Bobcat Invitational in Bozeman yesterday where Michaela Johnson set school records in the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles.
