SIDNEY — Three newcomers to the No. 1 ranking highlight this week’s Class A wrestling polls.

Michael Golden, Shane Gibson and Taylor Gladeau all find themselves top-ranked in their respective weight classes entering the weekend’s Class A wrestling duals in Belgrade.

Golden, a 132-pound Hamilton senior, was moved from the 138-pound weight class where he was ranked second last week. Golden placed third at the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic over the weekend in the 132-pound division. Last winter, he placed third at the State A wrestling tournament at 126 pounds.

Gladeau was also a third-place finisher at state last year for Columbia Falls, and vaulted from unranked to No. 1 in the heavyweight division. He also finished as the No. 3 wrestler at the Jug Beck.

Livingston’s Gibson, who placed sixth last season as a junior, climbed one spot in the 205-pound division this week.

Defending state champion Sidney and perennial power Havre High remain the top two teams, with Frenchtown, Polson and Columbia Falls rounding out the top five. The Eagles have top-ranked individuals in Christian Dean (138 pounds) and Jett Jones (182).

Mick Chagnon (103) and Martin Wilkie (145) pace Havre High.
