Huntley Project wins 62nd straight match; Joliet advances to state

WORDEN – The Huntley Project Red Devils won their 62nd consecutive volleyball match Friday, sweeping Roundup to advance to the championship game of the Southern B divisional on their home court.

Huntley Project won a tight first set 25-20, before easing into 25-18 and 25-13 wins to close the undefeated semifinal out. The Red Devils are now 29-0 this season, chasing back-to-back perfect seasons after finishing 33-0 in 2017. They have lost just one set in 2018.

Roundup will play Joliet in Saturday’s third-place match. The J-Hawks beat Jefferson 3-1 Friday night to earn the final Southern B berth to next week’s state tournament. Jefferson won the opening set 25-23, before Joliet rebounded to take the next three.

Joliet and Roundup will play at 11 a.m., with the winner playing Huntley Project for the Southern B title at 1 p.m.
