Posted

Class AA volleyball coaches have high expectations of the Helena schools, but perennial power Billings Senior remains a favorite to push for a state title in November in Bozeman.

League coaches vote each week on the Class AA power polls, where Billings Senior and Helena Capital are tied at No. 1 for the week of Sept. 17. The Broncs (14-3 overall) and Bruins (12-1) each won a pair of matches last week, Senior defeating Bozeman and Butte, while Capital downed defending state champion Missoula Sentinel and Missoula Hellgate. Both the Broncs and Bruins are 2-0 in their respective conferences.

Helena High (11-2) remains third in the weekly poll, with the Bengals also owning a 2-0 conference mark, tied with Capital and No. 4 Kalispell Flathead in the Western AA. Flathead, along with Kalispell Glacier, hosts the Helena schools this weekend.

Billings West sits fifth in the poll, which saw Missoula Sentinel and Kalispell Glacier receive votes.

Teams receive five points for first-place votes, four points for second-place votes, three for third-place votes, two for a fourth-place selection and a single point for a fifth-place vote. The weekly standings below shows first-place votes in parentheses.
