LAMBERT — The Richey-Lambert boys and Westby-Grenora girls were crowned champions of the District 2C high school track and field meet in Lambert on Tuesday.

Richey-Lambert more than doubled second-place Circle, finishing with 207 points to Circle’s 81. Fairview finished third with 80. The Fusion were exceptional on the track. Sophomore Blaine Frisbie won the 100-meter dash in 12.21 seconds and placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.09. Teammates Bryce Reitz (24.32) and Garrett Cayer (24.79) finished 1-2 in the 200.

Reitz and Seth Prevost finished 1-2 in the 400-meter dash, and Prevost, Samuel Smith, Chase Brown, Jake Smith and Micah Buller placed 2-6 in the 800-meter run to take 21 of the 31 possible points in the event. Smith and Brown finished 1-2 in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, too. Cayer added a win in the 300-meter hurdles, and the Fusion won both the 400- and 1,600-meter relays.

Richey-Lambert’s 1,600-meter relay time of 3 minutes, 36.55 seconds represents a new District 2C meet record and also qualifies the Fusion for the State C meet. That was just one of the records to fall on Tuesday, as Fairview’s Josh Herron also set a District 2C meet record in the pole vault with a vault of 13 feet, 7 inches. Herron’s vault is tops in Class C this season by more than a foot.

Westby-Grenora won the girls title with 96 points, edging Plentywood (87) and Richey-Lambert (84). The Thunder won nearly every sprinting event. Elizabeth Field grabbed wins in the 100 (14.16 seconds), 200 (29.04), 400 (1:03.83) and 800 (2:39.17). Jenna Rust added a win in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.37. Rust also placed second in the 100, 300 hurdles and discus. Katie Nielsen was Westby-Grenora’s only winner in the field events, throwing the javelin 116-09 to place first.
