Dillon boys, Corvallis girls cruise to titles at Florence/Darby Invitational

CORVALLIS — The Dillon boys and Corvallis girls track and field teams cruised to team titles on Tuesday afternoon at the Florence/Darby Invitational in Corvallis.

Dillon finished with 97 points en route to victory, scoring points in several events. Justus Peterson finished second in both the 100-meter dash (11.90 seconds) and the 200 (23.21). Teammate Dylan Cervelli took third in the 200 in 23.29 seconds and Braden Anderson finished second in the 400 at 55.00. The Beavers also won both the 400- and 1,600-meter relays.

Pole vaulters Kyzer Bair and Cooper Hoffman finished 1-2, going 12 feet and 11-06, respectively. Alfred Peterson took home a victory in the long jump with a leap of 21-10, qualifying for the State A meet in the process.

Seeley-Swan’s Logan Robinson, the Class C leader in both the 100 and 200, took home victories in both the sprints, narrowly holding off Peterson at the line in the 200. Robinson crossed in 23.20, just .01 ahead of Peterson. Seeley-Swan tied with Butte Central for second with 60 points.

Corvallis standout Calla Haldorson, who could win a fourth consecutive Class A discus title in May, won the discus with a toss of 142-08, a season best. Haldorson finished second in the shot put with a throw of 36-08. Maureen Jessop tied with Seeley-Swan’s Terra Bertsch and Dillon’s Anne Larson for first in the high jump at 5-00.

The Blue Devils were successful on the track, too. Alyssa King took second in the 200, Hannah Martin and Bree Lewis finished 1-2 in the 1,600-meter run, while teammates Katie Gleason and Rose Day finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Day won the 3,200, Lexi Rhodes finished third and Anna Jessop finished sixth.

Seeley-Swan finished second behind victories from Bertsch in the high jump, Autumn Morse in the Javelin (112-07) and Lily Mercer in the 100 (13.48). Klaire Kovatch took second to Haldorson in the discus and third in the javelin.
