Dillon boys, Corvallis girls win Frenchtown Invitational

FRENCHTOWN — The Dillon boys narrowly defeated host Frenchtown to claim the Frenchtown Invitational team title. Corvallis cruised to an easier victory on the girls side on Saturday afternoon.

Dillon’s boys finished with 68 points, while Frenchtown finished with 66. Corvallis’ girls finished with 80 points. Runner-up Charlo had 59.

Dillon got most of its points in the field events, getting victories from Zane Johnson in the triple jump and Michael Haverfield in high jump. Johnson lept 42 feet, 6.5 inches to win, while Haverfield jumped 6-02 to win.

Johnson finished second in pole vault and teammate Kyzer Bair finished third. The Beavers also got points from Zach Ingram, who finished third in long jump, Cooper Hoffman took third in javelin and Tyler Walker finished second in Discus.

Corvallis was led by a plethora of talent in the field. Star thrower Calla Haldorson won the discus (134-03.5) and placed second in shot put (33-07.5). Teammate Angellica Street finished third in shot put and won the javelin (149-04). Maureen Jessop won the high jump for the Blue Devils, clearing 5-00.

On the track, the Blue Devils won the 1,600-meter relay in 4 minutes, 18.57 seconds. Katie Gleason and Hannah Martin finished 2-3 in the 3,200-meter run and Bree Lewis finished second in the 800.
