POCATELLO, Idaho – Three Montana athletes won events over the weekend at the Simplot Games, a prestigious indoor track and field meet held in Holt Arena at Idaho State University.
Bradley Graves, a senior from Ballantine who attends Huntley Project High School, won the boys’ 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.09 seconds. This was Graves’ first time at Simplot Games, and he was nervous about the competition.
“I’ve been in a slump all indoor season, but I was relieved to see my personal best,” said Graves.
Graves will be running for Montana State University next year.
Elsewhere, Delaney Bahn, a senior from Bozeman, won the girls’ high jump with a height of 5 feet, 9 inches. That would be the third-highest outdoor jump in Montana high school history; the state record is 5-11.
Lauren Heggen, a junior from Missoula Sentinel, was the other Montana winner, taking the girls’ triple jump with a distance of 39 feet, 10.25 inches. Heggen won the State AA triple jump last May with a jump of 39-07, which set a new all-class state record.
