BILLINGS -- The knockout kicks were quick and without warning.
In the second half of a scoreless girls soccer match, Billings Senior's Abby Thompson connected on back-to-back goals in the span of just more than a minute Tuesday night, helping Senior to a 2-1 win over Billings Skyview. The freshman found the net for her first goal in the 47th minute, then lobbed a direct kick in just more than a minute later.
Ashton Kesley connected on Skyview's only goal with about three minutes left.
Senior (3-0-0) gets a shot at defending Class AA state champion Billings West on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Skyview (1-1-0) plays at Belgrade Thursday at 3 p.m.
The boys played to a scoreless draw in Tuesday's opening match at Amend Park.
Senior (2-0-1) faces West Thursday night at 5 p.m., while Skyview's boys play the 5 p.m. match Thursday in Belgrade.
