GREAT FALLS — After one day, more than 400 swimmers have consolidated into finals qualifiers at the 2020 Montana High School Association state swim meet.
In Class AA, Butte's Catharine Russo looks to break her own state records in the 50-yard freestyle (22.76 seconds) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.15 seconds). In the preliminary round, Russo finished at 23.23 seconds in the 50 and 55.47 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.
Great Falls CMR's Ben Huotari surprised in the 50-yard freestyle with a time 21.87 seconds to slide into the No. 1 seed heading into Saturday.
In Class A-B, Havre's Jacob Miller also had a strong showing in the boys 100-yard breaststroke, qualifying for the No. 1 seed with a time of 1:07.62.
