MISSOULA — The Billings West Golden Bears came into the quarterfinal match with the Missoula Hellgate Knights as the underdog. After a hard fought 90 minutes, the Bears changed that and came out on top to move on to the semifinals.
In the first half it was a defensive battle, with both teams getting close opportunities but failing to score. Both goal keepers, Kendall Ellis and Sophie Pierce, had stellar games.
In the final moments of the first half, the Bears found the back of the net. A loose ball was bobbled around before Chloe Davis cleaned it up with a beautiful shot that curled around Pierce's arm.
Hellgate scored a goal in the second half to even it at 1-1, but West scored again and won 2-1.
With the win the Golden Bears move onto the semifinals.
