Hawaii bats too much for Zootown in semifinal

MISSOULA – On Tuesday morning the host Zootown softball team took on Hawaii in a rematch of last year’s Senior League Western Regional final. This year the two teams met in the semifinal rather than the championship game.

In the first inning, Zootown came to play as Grace Hood nearly left the yard, smacking an RBI double off the center field wall. Hood was left on base, and that would be the narrative all game long. Zootown ended up leaving nine runners in scoring position after bringing home the first of the game.

On the other side, Hawaii just kept bringing runners across the plate. They picked up one run in the first to tie it up before taking the lead in the second and exploding for four runs in the third, three runs in the fifth and one to top it off in the sixth inning.

In the end, Hawaii run-ruled Zootown in the sixth inning and took the win, 11-1. They play Southern California Tuesday for a shot at a trip to the Senior League World Series in Delaware.
