BUTTE — It was a windy afternoon at Stodden Park, but that didn’t stop Belgrade and Butte High from playing a cross-class softball game Tuesday.
The first inning started with an offensive explosion as Class A Belgrade jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first after a solo home run and a two-RBI double from Madi Kreiger. Butte would respond with an eight-run first inning, capped off by Bradie Lester’s four RBI in that inning alone.
The offensive showcase would go back and forth all game, and seven innings wouldn’t be enough to determine a winner. In the top of the ninth the Panthers would stretch across a run to make it a 14-13 ballgame, and that would be the final.
