Bozeman Gallatin High School chooses Raptors as new mascot

BOZEMAN — The Bozeman school board has has officially decided on the mascot name for Bozeman Gallatin High School.

When the new Class AA school opens in the fall of 2021, students will be called the Raptors and will wear black and royal blue as their school colors.

The school board voted 7-1 in favor of the Raptors to become the face of the athletic programs. The board clarified the raptor will be a dinosaur, not a bird. The school board surveyed students, faculty, and the community to decide which mascots and colors they liked best of five finalists.

The Raptors led Mountaineers in the polls by 17 votes. The school has not decided on an official design for the new mascot.
