BILLINGS – Jack Leuthold should be able to shave time off is personal records at this weekend’s state swimming meet in Bozeman, after the weight of choosing a collegiate swim team has been lifted off his shoulders.
The Billings Central swimmer has signed with the University of Wisconsin, according to a Twitter post from the Badgers’ swimming and diving team on Friday.

Leuthold medaled twice last season at state, earning his second consecutive gold medal in the 500-yard freestyle with an all-class state record of 4 minutes, 39.9 seconds. He placed second in the 200 freestyle.
Swimming for the Billings Aquatic Club in December, Leuthold finished fourth in the 1,600 freestyle at the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals meet in Austin, Texas. He qualified along with Ethan Harder and Peter Thompson from the BAC.
The state swim meet opened Friday in Bozeman with prelims. Championships are Saturday at Bozeman High School. Central’s boys are chasing their third straight Class A title.
