MISSOULA and KALISPELL — The regular season finished in Western AA soccer with matches in Missoula and Kalispell on Thursday. The Missoula Big Sky girls and Missoula Hellgate boys had already clinched conference titles, and the two picked up two more victories.

Big Sky’s TiLynn McGreevey beat the Helena Capital keeper to a cross early in the second half for the Eagles’ final goal. The Bruins’ Cassie Brisko scored in the final seconds off a corner kick, but Big Sky hung on to win 3-2.

The 9-2-1 Eagles top the Western AA standings by a wide margin. They’ll take the West’s top seed to the state tournament in Helena Oct. 25-27. Capital finishes with the No. 6 seed in the West. It will host Kalispell Glacier in a playoff next week, with the winner moving on to another playoff at Missoula Sentinel.

Missoula Hellgate’s boys shut out Kalispell Flathead on the road 2-0. The Knights finish the year unbeaten, 11-0-1. The three-time defending state champs head to state as the top seed once again. Flathead (5-7-0) takes fifth in the conference and will travel to Helena Capital for a play-in playoff next week.
