BOZEMAN – The Bozeman golf team is dominating its final meet before state as both the Hawk boys and girls are in first after one round at the Bozeman Golf Invitational.
After the first round at the Valley View Golf Course on Thursday, Bozeman’s Annika Danenhauer leads the girls field shooting a 74, six strokes ahead of Billings West’s Carrie Carpenter, who shot an 80. The Hawks placed three golfers in the top five, and the Golden Bears held the other two spots.
The Hawks are also in first in the team scoring with 334. Billings West is in second with 349.
As for the Bozeman boys after Round 1, they own the tournament’s top four scores. J.R. Small is in first with a 67, followed by freshman twins Jordan Verge (71) and Justus Verge (73), as well as Jack Thorsen (74). Billings Senior’s Brady Cady rounds out the top five, also shooting a 74 in Round 1.
Bozeman leads in the team standings by 44 strokes on the boys side as the Hawks shot a combined 285. Billings Senior (324) is in second.
The final round will be played Friday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
