BILLINGS — Mother Nature may have gotten the last word, but the Bozeman Gallatin girls soccer program won't forget the program's first game - and first goal - Thursday at Amend Park.

Early in the first half, Olivia Collins raced onto a pass and put the ball between the onrushing Billings Skyview goalkeeper's legs before slotting it into the open net for a 1-0 lead in the new high school's first varsity game.

The lead was short-lived as Ashton Kelsey scored less than a minute later for the Falcons to tie the game 1-1.

Thunder and lightning then rolled into the area, suspending all four varsity games being played at Amend before halftime. The Skyview and Gallatin boys were playing one field over, while West and Bozeman were playing girls and boys matches at the opposite end of the complex.

Less than 30 minutes after the first strike, the games were officially postponed. Officials will attempt to make them up at a later date.
