MISSOULA — We continue to profile the nominees for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet with Missoula Loyola’s Cooper Waters.

Waters was a four-sport athlete, playing golf, basketball, football and track. He helped lead the Rams to appearances in the Class B state championship games in both football and basketball.

Waters also earned himself first-team all-state selections in football and basketball and is exceptional in the classroom, racking up a 3.99 GPA.

He’ll be heading to Butte to play for Chuck Morrell and the Montana Tech football team next fall and says he’s excited for the new opportunities.

“I am really excited to go to Tech next year, it’s going to be super fun,” Waters said. “I’ve put in a lot of work in football and all the other sports, lifting to get there. Yeah, it’s going to be super fun next year. Football is definitely exciting, but there’s more to life than football, so I’m super excited to see what a different town is like. I’ve never really lived anywhere else.”
