DARBY – Jake Sanders, who graduated from Darby High School in 2016, has passed away from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 20. Sanders, or “Sunshine” as everyone called him for his long blond hair, played center on the football team.

In the past few weeks, Sanders’ condition grew worse while he was receiving treatment in Houston. Earlier last week he decided to discontinue treatment and return home to Darby.

On Friday the football team will retire Sanders’ No. 61 and pay tribute to Sanders. MTN Sports will have a full story on the community reaction next week.
