BELGRADE — Dyson Cheney had a hand in four touchdowns and Easton Page scored two more highlight-reel TDs as Belgrade used a big third quarter to improve to 3-0 with a 27-21 win over visiting Miles City on Friday.

The Cowboys struck first with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Carson Hunter to Cameron Muri. The Panthers tied it up by the end of the first quarter, though, with a 1-yard scoring run from Cheney, the Panthers’ junior quarterback. The defenses tightened in the second quarter, and the teams went into halftime tied at 7-7.

Belgrade — and specifically Page, who was held in check in the first half — got going in the third. Early in the quarter, Cheney rolled right and found Page along the sideline in a hole in the defense. The 5-foot-9 senior then displayed his speed and athleticism, reversing field and outrunning the Miles City defense for a 67-yard touchdown. After forcing and recovering a fumble, Cheney hit Tate Bowler for another 36-yard touchdown, giving Belgrade a 20-7 advantage midway through the third.

Miles City’s Tristan Hirsch broke free for a 49-yard touchdown run, but Page had a quick answer. He took a swing pass from Cheney, again reversed field, dodging a handful of Cowboy defenders, on his way to a 64-yard touchdown.

Hunter connected with Jess Bellows for a too-little-too-late 45-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

With the win, Belgrade keeps pace with Billings Central, which improved to 3-0 with a win over Glendive on Friday, atop the Eastern A. Miles City falls to 1-2.
